Process
Analysis PDF Print E-mail

During the Analysis phase, we're looking for basic information about the company or organization. What is their core mission? What are their products and services? Who are their customers? What is their corporate look and feel, including color pallet, logo and any well-defined design elements.

The launch or refresh of a web site is a great opportunity to evaluate not only how the web site needs to integrate with the sales, marketing and communication strategies of the company, but a time to incorporate any new strategies or messaging elements.

Once we understand the company and gather existing resources, we are in a position to mock up a new web site look and feel. Our strategy is to find an existing template that is as close as possible to what the final site will look like so the time consuming and costly customization process can be minimized.

The analysis process usually creates a list of new content that needs to be created and existing content that needs to be edited or updated. It may also trigger the need for additional resources like photos or illustrations to be sourced to support the overall project.

When the analysis process is completed we move to the Design stage.

Design PDF Print E-mail

The design and development phase is where we take all the content, graphics and template design and begin to put the site together. The beauty of working within a CMS structure is that the client can watch as the development process takes place and provide real-time feedback to avoid any miscommunications or missunderstandings.

And because the content is separate from the design, the content can be loaded onto the site even while the final tweaks on the design are made. This process allows the client to visualize the actual site as it is being developed.

The development process includes everything up to the point of launch.

deploy

Once the design and implementation of the site is completed, it is ready to be launched.

The deployment of the site generally involves moving the site from the development environment to the production environment. On a new site this might only involve adding the analytical piece and publishing the site to the search engines, while on a refreshed site this involves the moving of the site physically from the development platform to the production platform.

Often there are technical issues involved in migrating a site, involving the use of a new hosting provider or configuration changes on the host that are needed to support the site.

While the deployment of a new site may simply be turning on the new site, more often than not this event is built into a marketing, PR or other promotional opportunity. Customers like to see new developments at a company since it means growth and development and can allay fears of negative aspects of a troubled economy.
